THINKING vs. PLANNING

 Ain’t Swiss 😁

Reminds you of Swiss, ain’t it?

 Just love these

This is Cameron, bringing Swiss to the country 😂

The idea of travelling to the Swiss Alps has been in my radar for so long.So long that last year was supposed to be the year but without proper planning, it stays as ideas.

This year is different and I would like to take this opportunity to journal every steps taken so that it could be guidance for those who are not sure where or when to start.

Planning and thinking of traveling is absolutely two different animals, one would say.

Thinking is merely toying with the idea with lots of what if, when, where & how. It’s kindly the mind is willing but the body is weak!

I myself have been ‘voicing’ the idea to go to Switzerland since day one on year 2023. Yup! This is the year! Definitely! I’m flying, y’oll.

But I can’t decide on the date!

February is going to be our umrah trip but I have to back out since my daughter is having the final exam before graduating from high school. The nightmare of facing SPM (High school Examination)

March, too close to Ramadan, fasting month and Eidfitri.

May/ June is our planned roadtrip to Bangkok, Thailand.

July, oh that’s summertime in Switzerland. Too crowded.

October/November, nice! It’s autumn. But not school holidays. Who are going to take care of the kids?

December, great! School holidays. But too much snow.

Aaahhh!! Too many excuses!

And that’s when the argument started and I just throw in the towel; I am not going!

3 days my hubby did not touch on the matter. He would talk about everything and anything besides mentioning Swiss! He let me cool off and to talk about the trip when I am ready. Haha… 20 years or marriage, he learned a trick or two on how to let me ‘cool’ down.

I realised that I am not being fair to him. He wanted to treat  me and pay for my luxury dream holiday and here I was, showing tantrum like a teenager.. it is going to be his holiday too…

Quietly, I opened my laptop yesterday and started planning for Swiss Itinerary.

Using my working experience to create ‘customer experience’, I started to draft and plan our journey.

I searched the ‘Road to Switzerland’ a local FB group that I join years ago. I look for maps, sharing from members. I look for places to visit and find out the location. This is to ensure that the flow is smooth and ai do not have to waste time going back and forth from the location. I created itinerary based in that.

Then I look at the dates. There’s a week break towards the end of  August. Looking back to the draft itinerary, it’s going to be at least 14 days that I will be away, and this is the call that I need to make; would I be ok to let my children miss classes for 4 days?

Ok, that’s done for, I need to decide when is the date to fly in and out; and choose a date!

Voila!!

And that, my friend, is how we translate IDEAS into ACTION!
