QUIT - The Easiest Way Out

Quit !!

Say no one ever. Anyone who says quiting is simple needs to be knock on the head!! MANY people believed  that quiting their day job is the best solution to all the miserable life they are leading. Everyday we complained that we do not have enough time for the family, our job is too stressful, the traffic is horrendous, public transport is unreliable, the maid cannot be trusted, etc, etc, etc. This is our daily life; complain, complain, eyes rolling and again complain!!

Well, that’s my life.
At one time, I had enough with all the complaining, and whining. I just QUIT my job! Just like that!!! I left a full time job that pays very good money.. to become stayed home mom! Oh life would be so wonderful to have 24 hours to yourself. I imagine myself sitting under the coconut tree by the beach, sipping ice-cold fresh juice, completing my very first novel that I’ve started 5 years ago (and yes, I’ve completed 8 chapters earlier). Living my dream as a writer. And then make some time to play with the children, travel to places when having writers block. Oh yeah, I would be the most vogue mom could ever be; with make-up and playing dress-up anytime of the day.
Whoa! What a dream!

Here I am, one year later; after quitting my job. I barely complete ONE chapter of my best selling novel….sob..sob… hardly leave the house for personal time (what more writing by the beach), and make-up? I would pat on my back if could apply a little lipstick!
From the moment I open my eyes in the morning, it is about getting the children ready for school, preparing breakfast, running frantically looking for the uniforms, ironing, scrambling to dig at the pile of clothes looking for my son’s underware, drive them to school… phew!! You’d think I’m quite done… well not quite! On the way back from school, will stop by the grocery store to buy wet food to cook for lunch and dinner. Rushing back to start lunch so that lunch is ready by the time the children came back from school. And don’t forget the laundry in between cooking time, folding the clothes, keep it to their respective pile. Then rush to send the elder brother to school, with one hour gap to fetch the others from school.

If you ask me how about after lunch? Well let me tell you this; between lunch time, wash up, hanging-up the clothes that I washed earlier and telling (more of yelling) at them to do homework, it is already 6 in the evening, and my eldest is coming back at 6.50 pm. AND the one question that my eldest son will ask EVERYDAY…. “mom, what did you do today?” (please… my eyes are already rolling back and front again!!!)

That is the simplify version of my daily routine activities. In life, most of the time reality does not comes out as planned.

If you ask me ‘is that all you do for the last one year?’ the answer would be yes, more or less; but there also times that just throw the towel (only for the day) and just be a couch potato.
‘any regrets making that decision to quit your job?’ NEVER. I’m closer to the kids and able to be with them most of the time. The best part would always be when the complimented my cooking is the best and I am the BEST  Masterchef!!! Ha..ha…. beat that Gordon Ramsey!!!

So what do you think?
