PARENTING 101

Recently it was viral on FB about one celebrity ranting about  his house guest and their 'misbehave' children whenever the comes to his house during Eid.

Please note that being a parent does not comes with any instruction booklet on how to address any issues based on certain situation. Nevertheless as as parents, we teach as we learnt, and there is no right or wrong, good or bad education, only to improve, improvise and enhance  as we teach. Personally, my method for of parenting are :

  1. Know the children. Every child is unique. If you have more than 1 child you'd notice that NOT one method fits all. (Trust me... tried that)
  2. Improve, improvise and enhance  the method of teaching.
  3. Learn as you teach.  As much as you THINK that you know everything, there are also many things that you could learnt from your child. Do not stop learning.
  4. Always be ready to say sorry if you make mistakes.  You're NEVER always right!
  5. If you have to scold, do it privately (away from the siblings and any nosy person). And do not forget to explain the reason WHY they are being scolded.
  6. Do not only highlight their wrongdoing but also reward their good behavior.
  7. Respect them, and the respect will reciprocate.
  8. Education is continuous, NOT only during Eid, or ziarah or when you would want to 'show off' your method of educating your children to other people.
These are some tips for those who would like to learn, but as I mentioned earlier, being a parent does not comes with instruction. The only guidance we have is Al Quran and Sunnah and pray that everything goes alright.

Lots of LoVe...
